Welcome to the February Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop! The purpose of this hop is to motivate us to not just hoard pins, but to make it happen!

I just love looking through Pinterest for ideas to make as gifts, and when I found a cute journal necklace, I just knew I needed to make one for my daughter. You can see the original pin I found here. Well, my daughter loved it so much that we have made little journal necklaces for each of her best friends as birthday gifts too. And they loved them. Pinterest success!

The original pin is by Little Coffee Fox, and she gave a really good and detailed tutorial. But I decided to change it up a little. Instead of making a soft cover journal, I made a hard-bound book that is only one and a half inches tall (about 4cm). Luckily I learned how to bind books back in college, so I just had to do it all in miniature. Tiny signatures, little book boards, and a mini spine. You can learn how to make your own in my How to Make a Mini Book post here. (It’s way too long to share in this post.)

Because I made a hard bound book, a leather awl wasn’t strong enough to make a hole for the jump ring. So I used a drill with a small bit to drill through the mat board of the cover.

Also, instead of a leather cord necklace, I made a ribbon necklace. Ribbon necklaces are super easy to make and I love how colorful they are. When we made these for my daughter’s friends, we gave each of them a necklace in their favorite color.

Don’t forget to check out my post on how to make your own mini book necklace!
