I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to see Paddington 2 because so many kid movie today either have gross body humor or are written on the intellectual level of a 3 year-old. Paddington 2 is not a typical kid movie, instead it’s a family movie. And everyone will love it. My preschooler loved watching a bear have fun adventures. My older kids loved the storyline, the characters , and seeing actors they recognized from the Harry Potter movies. I loved the great character actors, the amazing set designs, and I really loved that there were no fart jokes but a lot of humor for adults.

Now our family needs to see the original Paddington movie. And in case you’re wondering, you don’t need to see the first movie to enjoy Paddington 2. It stands on its own.

In the movie, there is a wonderful pop-up book that is used through-out the story. It inspired me to make my own pop-up card. I actually wanted to make a whole book, like in Paddington 2, but that was a little too ambitious. A card is a fun beginner project.

More Pop-up Card Tips

A book all about how to make pop-up cards with color photos and detailed instructionsI learned how to make some of the pop-up elements from a book called Pop-up Cards by Jo F. Mathieson. It shows how to make 19 different simple pop-up cards with good pictures and clear instructions. I’ve used it to make several cards, and I’m always happy with how they turn out.

After I’d finished making the video above, I found a pack of paper scrapbooking flowers that would have been perfect in the card I made. Plus, using pre-made flowers would have been a whole lot easier than drawing and coloring my own flowers. You can find lots of paper flowers on amazon, like these beautiful pink flowers.

Have fun making your own pop-up card. Be creative and use the process I showed in the video to create your own design. And see Paddington 2 to check out the amazing pop-up book in the movie.
