Our home improvement goal for 2019 is to finish all those to unfinished projects around our house and yard. This year we will get it done.
Looking Back at 2018
2018 wasn’t a bad year for me, I just didn’t get much done around my house. Sometimes when life gets busy and there are too many things demanding attention, you have to prioritize and focus on what’s most important. Last year, my husband started a business, and so our family focused on building a graphic design and branding business. And so the kitchen stayed partly finished. And so the side yard still doesn’t have a finished fence. And so my son’s loft bed still needs one more part. And so this blog got put on the back burner too. I posted, but not very much and not the projects I really wanted to share.
2019 is looking much better. The graphic design and branding business is flourishing (you can check out the website at wayneallen.com). And my youngest just started school, which gives me more time to focus on what I love doing—making projects around my home and sharing them here on SimplePracticalBeautiful.com.
Get It Done in 2019
So my home improvement goals for 2019 aren’t specific improvement projects like I’ve done in the past. My goal this year is to finish. I will get done all those projects that have been waiting around and piling up until I had time.

I will finish the kitchen this year. Our kitchen remodel is about three-fourths done. It’s a fully-functional kitchen, it’s just not quite done. And I have so many great projects that I want to share with you from our kitchen remodel. Like my hidden command center. It might be my favorite part of the kitchen. I just need to add a few hooks and a magnet bar, then I can share it with you.

I will finish the side yard fence. Finally. And then add plants and landscaping. And maybe a water feature. And paint the house walls. And add gutters and a rain barrel. Okay, I’m getting ahead of myself. I will focus on finishing the fence.

I will finish my son’s loft bed. It’s wonderful how much space the loft bed has added to his room, but it’s so dark underneath it. I have a light fixture I had planned to add when I originally refinished the bed, but I ran out of time. So I will finish the bed.

I will finish the dining room. That was one of my goals from 2018. My dining room makeover started and kind of fizzled. I even started painting and stopped because I need to move the midcentury cabinet before I could finish. I will get that done.
And I will post it all and share all of our home improvement accomplishments with you. So be sure to check back often. Or better yet, subscribe to our newsletter and once a month I’ll send you an email with all my new projects and tutorials. It’s going to be a great year.
